 FAQs

  • I am based in Stanway, Essex however I am more than happy to travel further afield for an additional travel cost. It may also be an option to meet in the middle if you are based further away! For smaller packages, it might not be feasible to travel a long distance but please get in touch to discuss your requirements and we can figure out how to make it work!

  • That’s no problem at all! Leads can be easily edited out afterwards and safety always comes first. Long lines & flexi leads are also a good way to give your dog a bit more freedom! Be mindful that harnesses can be more difficult to edit out, so if you would prefer not to have these in the final images it would be preferable for your dog to be on a collar.

  • Absolutely - I have experience photographing dogs with reactivity, aggression, nervousness, over excitement and other behavioural issues. It is important that you let me know in advance about anything that you think I should be aware of. I like to know a bit about your dog before I meet them anyway, so we can give them & you the best possible experience for your photoshoot!

  • To start things off, please send me a message by email (thecaninelens@gmail.com), Whatsapp (07540061239) or social media. I will ask a few questions and work out the best package for you.

We will decide on the perfect location (don’t worry if you’re not sure where to go - I have plenty of suggestions)! Once a date and time are agreed, I will send a confirmation email with all of the details including terms & conditions and an invoice.

A few days before the photoshoot, I’ll be in touch to check everything is good to go and send more details about what to expect.

The day of the photoshoot is the fun part! We’ll meet at the agreed location and usually start by having a chat and letting your dog settle into the environment and being around me. I can fully lead the photoshoot or you can suggest ideas, but I usually begin with some more casual and relaxed shots to warm everyone up.

Once the photoshoot is complete, I rush home to upload and back everything up!! Usually I can’t help having a quick look straight away… You will receive unedited previews of your images within around 14 days. This gives you the chance to purchase any additional images you like the look of. Once you have let me know which photos you would like, my editing time is a further 14 days.

Final images will be delivered in a download link via email.

  • Both sunshine and clouds provide excellent photo opportunities. Some weather conditions are more difficult for me to shoot in than others. I will let you know if the forecast is looking sufficiently bad that I think the quality of your photos will be impacted. This is usually only if we are forecast heavy rain or if it is very dull.

If we need to reschedule, I will prioritise finding a time to suit you as soon as possible.

  • Currently I only offer high resolution digital images, however these are suitable to be printed up to very large sizes. Feel free to ask if you’re not sure how big you can get them printed!

  • Of course! Many of my customers like to have a few photos with their dog. However, if you would prefer to focus solely on your dog, that’s absolutely fine.

  • Bring along everything you would usually take on a dog walk, plus something your dog enjoys as a reward. If that’s food, bring along plenty of it as we can get through it quickly when asking them to do more than we usually would. A toy can also be a really fun way to get some action shots.
